Weekly Weigh In

Well, I bit the bullet and stepped on the scale.  As I suspected, I am up 1.1 lbs from last week.  I know that I have not been eating perfectly.  Too many treats.  Not listening to my body hunger signals.  These are old, bad habits and it is going to take a lot more than Fiona (my band) to help me get over them.  The more discouraging part is that I realized when updating my ticker that even though I have lost 12.7 lbs since I started down this banded road Oct. 4th, I have only lost 2.2 since 10/9.  I have been hoping to average a 10lb. loss per month and at this rate, that is not likely.  I think this is really a message that I have to button up and fly by the band eating rules.  Not easy, but it is doable.  I am certainly hoping for more restriction tough when I get my second fill on Dec. 1 to help me out.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and better success than I have had this week.

Off to read your blogs!

Don't beat yourself up. You're in bandster hell right now- a little restriction, a brand new sparkly band but nothing to really hold you back from eating too much except the IDEA of the band.

It sucks and I feel for you but you ARE going down and once you get some restriction, whoa nelly, it's gonna all click together for you.

I'm up one lb too. And I'm feeling all the things you are. I was banded 9/15. But one thing I learned is that this is a paced race. I lost 10 lbs post op and then nothing for a month then dropped 7. I think the key is to jump back on the wagon when you fall off. You will be fine. Look forward to supporting you and going through this together.

Enjoy the journey ---We are all in it for the long haul.

Easily said now --I was in bandster hell for 7months until I got enough fill-

yeah, this part sucks! If you go and look at lots of bandsters' weight histories you will see very small losses or even gains during the first couple of months. It just takes some time to get everything all working in the same direction.

you are already doing great!! It too me ages to get decent restriction and then decent weightloss. Good luck with the fill and have a great time in San Francisco.

I LOVE Ikea--make sure and take pics for us when you finish with all of your decorating. My daughter has been trying to get me to do some tone on tone stenciling in her room..would love ideas.

The fill in December will help you out a lot, but you're right--you need to start learning to overcome the bad habits and impulse eating on your own NOW. The band can't help with that. Recognizing where you are at is half the battle. You can conquor the other half the battle now!

OMG...side note; it took me until today to realize that there's another gal with your blog title http://mybigfatbandgeeklife.blogspot.com/ who was banded in the spring...anyway, not your problem, just a lightbulb moment as I kept getting confused.

Now, back to you..BANDSTER HELL SUCKS!!! It just does! My Doc said it takes 6 weeks for the internal parts/stitches at the band to heal (he expected NO WL during this time- many gain), so eat small meals (more often if need be) as it's the time you're most likely to cause a complication. Don't set any short term goals with dates/months until you've got some restriction on the other side. You're right to start working on other things though...bad choices, head hunger vs. real hunger, etc. as these will be ongoing things. I didn't have good restriction until my third fill and my Sweet Spot at my fourth, so don't get discouraged, set your expectations so you don't get frustrated.

We all want the WL to come immediately, it's the worst part of the Band...the wait...but...IT'S SO WORTH THE WAIT ;-) -BG
